Marvel NOW! - Avengers news and reveals!
So Marvel today released information (during an interview with many sites) for their upcoming Avengers and New Avengers under the Marvel NOW! banner.

For Avengers, writer Jonathan Hickman revealed that the first story arc (3-issues) “Avengers World” will look into the bigger role that the Avengers have now. Themes from this will obviously follow the next issues as by issue #7 and #8, Hickman promises that the team will have 22 characters and out of those 12 will be either female or a minority. Also it was established that there will be a total of 24 members for the Avengers team and that if necessary the team will divide into 3 small squads lead by Cap, Captain Marvel and Iron-Man (the last two being the vice-captains under Cap leadership).

And finally Hickman revealed the line-up and pretty much what will his New Avengers book will consist of. As predicted thanks to Skottie Young’s variant cover released, this book will showcase the members of the Illuminati. Of course this book will work very different from Avengers in which will have these characters trying to “fix” or “control” the World Order from the shadows, although Hickman says that stuff happening in Avengers will be addressed here from the other side of the coin. When it comes to the line up it was revealed to be: Captain America, Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Black Blot (back in Earth), Mr. Fantastic, Beast (new addition), Namor (despite AvX) and Black Panther (whom initially refused membership).
Hickman promises that the first few issues will deal with Namor and especially his relationship with Black Panther after the events of AvX. Also after the question that revealed Cap as the Avengers leader with Carol and Tony as his vice-captains…in this team all of them think they are in charge and well this will bring interest interactions between the characters.
